My Own Website

I got my domain name as a Christmas gift from a wonderful friend Diana. I was postponing buying my domain until I have much nicer art pieces, but she thought my blog is not good enough to represent my work and went "behind my back" and bought me this nice present - my own name as a domain.

Soooo - I have a domain and almost a finished simple site that I've been working on for couple of days now. Soon it will be fully functional.

Happy New Year everyone!

p.f. (also P.F., pf, or PF) means "Pour Feliciter" (French) = For Luck. Therefor "PF 2011" to all of you.

No. 30 - "Interlocking no. 1"

I think of paintings that would be different quite often. I think about art especially when I cannot sleep - that is the time when I think (IMHO) of interesting stuff. Hopefully you agree with me.

Not too long ago I thought of an interlocking painting that could practically never end. A painting I could always add more pieces onto. I created two paintings that are semi-published but not made public yet (I haven't photographed them yet), and from them I got inspired into this multicolor painting, which is made off 4 separate pieces.

What is interesting about these interlocking paintings is their continuity. The paintings can be displayed on a wall either separately (one small painting), or as many small paintings together as one's heart desires - thus creating one large painting.

No. 29 - "Blue and Orange"

This is my take on an "Interlocking paintings" in my favorite color duo. I had to try it. They are very happy colors, indeed. Not for everyone and not for any room.

No. 28 - "Olive Green and Raw Sienna"

I have a desire of creating an interlocking paintings that could practically never end. A painting to which I could always add more paintings as a continuation, and to be hanged whichever way one's heart desires.

No. 27 - "Together"

Something nature inspired:

I love to look at the sky. I find it fascinating, inspiring, relaxing, beautiful. Sky's ever changing "surface" and its vast area makes me humble. I love the sky at night, I love it in day time, I love it when it is raining. I love it when it is windy and clouds are flowing fast above me. I love it when it's sunny, I love it at sunrise and sunset... I love it all the time. I am mesmerized by it.....

No. 26 - "Patrick"

About four years ago I painted an abstract painting for my sister-in-law for her living room. Couple years later, I found out that her son, my nephew, "confiscated" the painting for himself and hanged it in his bedroom. So when I was taking a class in our local college, I decided to paint my nephew's portrait Andy Warhol style using acrylic paint (instead of silk screen) as my school project, and then to give it to him for his graduation (and Christmas as well). He totally loved the painting and his younger brother, my other nephew, wanted one quite badly also. I told my sister-in-law that I will paint the younger nephew's portrait when he will graduate from his High School, which would be almost in five years. I could not wait any longer and just finished the painting as his 2010 Christmas gift. In order to make it a surprise, I downloaded one of his last year's picture, which was posted on Face Book by my sister-in-law, and worked with that. So, above is the outcome. I hope, that he'll like it.

No. 25 - "Bluette"

Another "Hair Style" theme painting is finished. My husband loves it. It reminds him of Tilda Swinton, a very talented actress.

In the mean time next painting is in the worx.

No. 24 - "Xenie"

As soon as I finished this painting from the "Hair Styles" theme, I realized it will be hard for me to part with it. There is something about this painting that makes me be moved. Perhaps the stare or weirdness, or.... (NFS).

No. 22 - "Venus In Fur"

This painting was actually my very first painting in my "Hair Styles" theme. I worked on it for about two or three months. I had to take some time off in between,  because I was getting psychologically ready for my labor on the fur. I was inspired by an image of Marilyn Monroe, which I saw on the internet one day. (NFS).

No. 21 - "Yellow-Red Abstract"

I love to re-create some techniques in different colors, which this painting is practically a sibling of the "Gray-Pink Abstract". Now, I want to make few more in different sizes.

The more I look at these paintings the more I love them, because when anyone looks at them they make the person think about what the shapes might represent. This technique makes people use their imagination to the fullest. Each person will see something different from another observer. Put a child in front of a canvas  like the one on this page and you can have quite an interesting chat. These paintings are simply great conversational pieces when friends come over for a dinner.

No. 20 - "Redhead With Blue Eyes"

While I was taking a little vacation from my "Venus In Fur" painting, I begun this one to continue in my "Hair Styles" theme. I actually finished this painting first, even that I started it later than "Venus".

No. 19 - "Gray-Pink Abstract"

I do not like pink alone, but I totally love it in combination with gray.  The gray color gives the pink a very classy feel. That is how I feel about this color combination and I hope many of you agree.

No. 14 - "I am. Am I?"

This painting represents people turning into computerized individuals. We cannot function without our technology anymore. Are we turning into robots?

I like my idea but the painting didn't come out as I would want to.

No. 12 - "Blue Green Abstract"

I created this painting while I was thinking about my childhood a couple of years ago. As a child in the Czech Republic I heard  many times a rhyme "zelena-modra, pro blazny dobra". Loosely translated "green and blue combination is good for crazy people". I love the blue-green combination. Does it make me crazy?

No 10. - "Madame Pompadoure With Blue Eyes"

I just finished this painting for a friend and his wife as a gift for their salon. I decided on a theme that represents a hair style - therefore a painting "Madame Pompadoure With Blue Eyes" was born on one of my sleepless nights. It is painted in a decorative "poster" style. This is a first "Hair Styles" theme painting, and several others will follow at some point. The future paintings will be for sale. (Gift).

no. 9 - "Shattered Ideas"

I always wanted to do geometrical paintings, and this is one of my ideas that slowly developed over two months of thinking and painting. When I was painting "Colors" for my friend I fell in love with orange-blue-black color scheme, and although I want to work on my "Life Forms" series, I made a detour via this painting. I also decided when I was about three quarters finished to add white color to it.

I think this painting turned out very nice and in the future I'd love to paint several geometric style paintings more.
